My current workout routine combines daily functional strength training with a lot of running. I’ve been using the newest vibrating massage rollers both before and after workouts as part of my warm-up and cool down. I’ll show you the 3 I use and why I like each one.
The first one I use a lot is the Triggerpoint Grid Vibe Plus. It’s 12″ x 3.5″ and weighs 2 1/2 lbs. It has 4 vibration speeds and can run up to 2 hours between charges. This is a great size- big enough to use for standard foam rolling routines but small enough to carry in a gym or overnight bag. I even use this one on my lower back when Im driving long distances. This is a solid roller with a powerful vibration unit that feels heavy in your hands.
The next one is the Pro-Tec Athletics Orb Activate. This one (like most spherical rollers) works to pinpoint areas like piriformis, glutes, hip flexors & high hamstring tendons. Great for upper back as well. You can use it with or without the vibration but if you want to break up the adhesions and knots, you’ll want to use one of the 3 powerful vibration speeds. This is a 4.5″ diameter ball with a contoured surface. Again, this one is easy to slip inside your gym bag or purse to take along for a race weekend.
The last vibrating roller is another one from Triggerpoint, the Charge Vibe. I like this one for achilles tendons, feet, and IT band. It also works great on the lower back. 7″ x 4″ and weighs 2 lbs. The Charge Vibe has 3 speeds and like the other Triggerpoint roller, the vibration on this one is rock solid. This is a heavy unit with strong vibration.
