Outside Magaizine’s ‘Gear of the Year’ winner ! We just got the Scott Makani II shoes into the store, and we’re very impressed. This is a moderate stability shoe, so it’s in the same category with the Brooks Adrenaline, the Asics Gel 2150, & the Saucony ProGrid Hurricane. The MAKANI II is a moderate stability shoe that is so light, many elite runners prefer it as both a training and a racing shoe. The Ergologic Fit upper design creates an ideal fit and midfoot support for any foot shape. The Makini’s Ergologic Fit is a unique upper technology that uses a smooth and conforming mono-sock design in the forefoot and an overlapping heel and midfoot cradle to secure and support the foot. This design maximizes adjustability and fit for different foot shapes, and creates a smooth, comfortable feel over the instep, flex point, and toes.
I’ve run in the Makani II shoes now for nearly a week, and I’m amazed at the feel. They are supportive, minimal-feeling, and very lightweight all at once. I’ll put a couple of hundred miles on these shoes and then do a full review, but from the 30 miles or so I’ve run in them, I’d definitely recommend these Scott shoes.
The Scott Makani weighs just 8 ounces in the women’s version, and 9.7 ounces in the men’s version. To give you a weight comparison, here is the men’s Makani compared to a couple of other shoes:

|Brooks Ravenna||11.0 ounces|
|Asics Gel Kayano||13.0 ounces|

|Scott Makani II||9.7 ounces|
